BLACON Youth won their top-versus-bottom battle at Ellesmere Port Rangers on Saturday to maintain the pace at the Chester & District Junior League Under 9s Red Division summit.

Man-of-the-match Charlie Evans (3), Leon Dickers (2) and James Ellams got the goals in the 6-0 win over Port, for whom Adam Chesworth starred.

Second-placed Upton Pumas edged a close encounter at Waverton Wasps 4-3 while MoM Luke Benson could not stop Malpas & District from losing 5-0 at home to Vauxhall Motors Zafira.

In the Yellow Division, leaders Christleton Newscene won 4-2 at home to Westminster Park (Rhys Harrison, James Beaton; MoM Hannah Snape) as Vicars Cross Dynamos Colts (Cole Hodgkisson; MoM Rocco Cecere) were beaten 9-1 at second-placed Princes Villa.

Chester Nomads held off Helsby to win a Blue Division thriller 5-3.

MoM Tom Fisher (3), Billy Heart and Dillon Hodgson netted for Nomads with Charlie Potts, Ethan Olubodun and Mathew Harrison replying for the hosts, whose MoM was Dean Woodward.

Jacob McEvoy was the MoM for Waverton Bees in their 5-0 home loss to second-placed Vicars Cross Dynamos, who remain four behind Newton Athletic after the table-toppers won 3-0 at Princes Villa Colts.

Upton Panthers (Joe Stockley, Oli James; MoM Lawrina Dewart) were defeated 6-2 at Ellesmere Port Rovers (Ben Perks 2, Shay Jones 2, MoM Mackenzie Hardy 2) in the Green Division. Newton Athletic Eagles also put up a fight in losing 9-3 at home to pacesetters Vauxhall Motors Astras (George Hollyoak 4, Flynn Kaye 2, Sam Ricketts 2, Nathan Farrington; MoM Daniel Brazier).

Under 10s Green Division leaders Blacon Youth enjoyed a 7-0 home success over Westminster Park Panthers, for whom Jack Robinson and Arthur Devaney did not deserve to be on the losing side.

Jack Sconce (3), Jack Chaloner (2), man-of-the-match Joe Thompson and James Worthington shared the strikes for Blacon.

Zac Hall produced a MoM performance but Saughall Colts went down 9-0 at Ellesmere Port Rovers.

Malpas & District Reds (James Jacks 2, Adam Dennett; MoM Brandon Harvey) won 3-2 at Groves Rangers in the Blue Division to keep the pressure on pacesetters Christleton Newscene, who were 9-0 winners at home to Westminster Park Lions.
