Champions beaten

VICARS Cross Dynamos inflicted a first defeat of the campaign on defending champions Waverton Arrows in Sunday’s big Chester & District Junior League Under 12s Division One clash.

The hosts – for whom defender Tom McGrady was the man of the match – won a hard-fought game 1-0 after Lewis Bainbridge tapped in Archie Gautier’s perfect cross.

A late goal condemned Malpas & District (Craig Norris, Tom Fenney; MoM Andrew Sweetenham) to a 3-2 defeat at Princes Villa.

MoM Callum Perry netted a hat-trick as Saughall Colts won 3-1 in Division Two at home to FC Porto, whose MoM Charlie Berry reduced the arrears.

Blacon Youth (Liam Davies, Josh Rigby, Drew Purchase; MoM Ben Maguire/Luke Clements) were beaten 7-3 at table-topping Upton.

Adam Dennett’s hat-trick earned him the man-of-the-match award as Malpas & District won 5-1 at Waverton Rockets in Under 11s Division A.

Vicars Cross Dynamos edged a seven-goal Under 13s Division One thriller at JFC Boughton 4-3.

Owen Bennett (2), Tom Walsh and Alexander Haggart did the damage for the Dynamos, for whom Trent Moore was the man of the match.

Blacon Youth (Kenny Brown 2, Harley Bennion 2, Jake Tong 2, Sam Ward, Sam Carroll, James McGee; MoM Carter Cutler-Evans) had it easier, winning 9-0 at Newton Athletic.

Malpas & District (Oscar Welsh 2, Edward Clowes, Will Morris) won 4-3 at home to Groves Athletic.

In Division Two, Westminster Park Tigers fought back to draw 3-3 with Elton Youth who, inspired by MoM Callum Williams, raced into a three-goal lead through Lauchlan Stanier and Paul Simcott.

But the hosts showed spirit to earn a share of the spoils with Matthew Jones and James Jones efforts.

Vicars Cross Dynamos (James Winskill 3, Liam Eldridge 2, Joseph Hickson, Billy Cussins) cruised to a 7-1 Under 14s Division success at home to Upton.

Vicars Cross Dynamos Colts, however, went down 6-0 at home to Princes Villa.

A brace of goals from new signing Matty Waters and further strikes from Ben Black, Tom Curry and Tom Wright ensured Malpas & District recorded a 5-0 Under 15s Division win at Upton.

Waters shared his side’s man-of-the-match honour with goalkeeper Connor Fowles. Ben Woodman was the MoM for Upton, who missed a string of chances.

A man-of-the-match performance from Bradley Dodd could not prevent Blacon Youth from losing 8-1 at home to Groves in the Under 16s Division.

Helsby (James Critchley, James McGregor) remain top of the Under 17s-18s Division after their 2-0 home win over Upton.

Man-of-the-match Mitchell Mowatt (2), George De Vera Davey, Cam Clark and Ethan Jones got the goals as Chester Nomads won 6-1 at home to Vicars Cross Dynamos U17s.

Jude makes it good

JUDE Prendergast was named the Saughall Colts Blacks player of the match after hitting a hat-trick in their 8-0 home win over Blacon Youth Tigers in the Chester & District Junior League Under 9s Red Division on Saturday.

Ethan Auden (2), Sam Richards (2) and Lucas Kennedy were also on target for Saughall. William Wilson was Blacon’s MoM.

Man-of-the-match Harvey Soloman scored four goals as high-flying Waverton Wasps won 4-0 at Westminster Park in the Under 10s Green Division.

Hannah Snape was Park’s star performer.
