AN excellent goalkeeping and defensive performance inspired Blacon Youth to a 3-1 win at Saughall Colts Blues in their latest Chester & District Junior League Under 9s Cup A outing.

Mason Cooper (2) and Ethan Evans netted for Blacon, for whom Callum Stokes was named the man of the match. Ewan McQuair won the award for Saughall, who replied through Oliver Hitchcox.

Semi-finals beckon

CHESTER Nomads sailed into the semi-finals of the Under 12s Knockout Cup with a 9-0 victory at battling 10-man Blacon Youth in the latest round of Chester & District Junior League matches.

Saughall Colts triumphed 2-1 Westminster Park Tigers in U13s Division Two with goals from man-of-the-match Jack Booth and Billy Henry.

Blacon Youth (John Brown 2, Keenan Beaumont, Trey Latte; MoM Liam Roberts/Mike Woolam) beat U14s Division rivals Chester Nomads Colts 4-3 in a Doug Johnson Cup thriller.

Upton (Ben Woodman 2; MoM Matthew Salinger) lost an entertaining U15s Knockout Cup quarter-final tie at Hoole Youth 3-2.

A man-of-the-match performance from Brandon Harvey could not prevent Malpas & District from going down 3-0 at home to Groves in the U11s Knockout Cup quarter-finals.
