SAUGHALL travelled to Pulford and returned 6-2 winners in the under 13s division.

The hosts were weakened by injuries and pre-Christmas absentees, but played well despite fielding only 10 men.

Saughall led 3-0 at half time, however. Sam Powell hit back first for Pulford in the second period, but Saughall restored the advantage from a corner only to see Pulford man of the match Jack Stirrup pull another one back for the home side.

Saughall rounded off a convincing win in the end with two late goals.

Newton Athletic produced the shock of the season by ending Blacon’s 100% record with a 1-0 win away from home. Steven Bellis gave them the lead in the first half, applying a cool finish to a brilliant George Williams through ball. Blacon pressed but could not break through. MoM was shared by Newton’s David Freeman and Williams.

Blacon Youth White beat Malpas 3-1 in the U14s section with goals from Patrick Aldom, Lucas Duckers and Dean Saunders.

Tattenhall fell 10-0 at home to Upton North, with Matthew Jones their MoM.

The U14 Duke of Westminster Cup saw Upton North eliminate Pulford 5-3. Upton started brilliantly with four goals in the first 20 minutes. But the visitors found their feet and hit back with three of their own through Cameron Murdoch, Will Goulbourne and Harry Brightmore to make it 4-3 at half time. Upton wrapped up the win with a fifth towards the end of the second half as Pulford pressed for an equaliser. MoM was Pulford’s Will Goulbourne.
