Cheshire Phoenix produced their best display of the season on Friday night to down Glasgow Rocks in the BBL and, in doing so, gave their play-off hopes a major shot in the arm.

Danny Huffor came back to haunt his old club as he poured in a game-high 28 points in a 97-87 victory for the Nix, who face another stern test on Sunday when they host fellow play-off rivals London Lions at the Cheshire Oaks Arena (5.30pm).

New signing Quincy Taylor proved influential as he accounted for 21 points in the win while the ever reliable Kinu Rochford dominated at both ends of the court to put up an impressive stat line of 18 points, 17 rebounds, seven assists and three steals in a well executed Nix display north of the border.

The home side led for almost the entire first half as they looked inside to star man Kieron Achara to create high-percentage shots.

But Huffor and recent acquisition Taylor came to life after half-time, sparking a 9-0 surge early in the third period which changed the contest.

Rocks cut the deficit to two points with three minutes to play, only for Taylor and Rochford to respond with clutch buckets to help the visitors over the line.

Taylor supplemented Huffor's scoring with 21 points as Rochford added an 18-point, 16-rebound double-double.

Achara led Rocks' effort with 22 points as Warren Gillis - 22 points, 10 rebounds - and Will Hall - 12 points, 10 boards - also impressed in the defeat, which leaves Glasgow, who had been on a fine run of form of late, just two points above the Nix in the standings.
