Taking place on Sunday, March 15 at the Swansway Chester Stadium, the event will raise money for ActionAid and aims to promote International Women’s Day 2015, as well as heightening women’s involvement in sport and emphasising the importance of equality among women.
In the morning, from 10.30am - 12pm girls aged between six and 12 are invited to play in small sided games on the first team pitch with coaches from the club and Cheshire FA.
Each girl will be given a present to give to their mother for Mother’s Day. No previous experience is needed and the event is free with girls just needing appropriate clothing and footwear and a drink.
In the afternoon, the university's men's and women's teams will be integrated for a 90 minute match on the pitch.
Tickets cost £3 and there will be a charity half-time raffle with funds raised bing split between ActionAid, a global charity focused on giving women who live in poverty the support to stand up for their rights, and Claire House, the Wirral-based hospice providing respite and end-of-life care for children and young adults with life-limiting medical conditions.
Jon McCarthy, first team coach at the club and CEO of the Chester FC Community Trust, said: "We are delighted through the support of MBNA and the Football Conference Trust to be developing our relationship with Cheshire FA and the University of Chester to promote gender equality.
"We aim to provide a morning promoting girl’s football as part of one of our main objectives of growing and supporting girl’s football within our community.
"In the afternoon, we look forward to inviting the students from the University of Chester to use our facilities.
"Our first team regularly trains at the university facilities. University students work closely with the club to provide sports analysis and strength and conditioning work.
"Amity Events is an organisation formed by five students from an events planning degree course to plan and deliver the event at the club.
"We hope that this becomes an annual event that women in our community will take ownership of and work together to celebrate women’s involvement in society and sport as an important part of our society."
