A second-half collapse saw the  Motormen crash out of the FA  Trophy at the first round hurdle  at  Bower Fold on Saturday, November 16.

In a fairly even first half Vauxhall  twice went close. Former Stalybridge  midfielder Lloyd Ellams shot just wide  of the post after four minutes and 17  minutes later Karl Clair whipped in a  dangerous corner which found the  head of Danny Fearnehough but his   effort was cleared off the line.

But the hosts were certainly fired up  during the break and took the lead just  47 seconds after the restart.

Player-boss Keith Briggs showed the  way, playing  a square ball to Adam  Pepper who dodged through the defence before hitting an exquisite chip  from 20 yards over the stranded Zac  Jones.

And it was 2-0 just three minutes later  when Kristian Platt rifled the ball past  Jones from 30 yards.

Ellams should have pulled a goal back immediately but shot wide from just  eight yards.

The Motormen had another chance to  get back into the game midway through  the half but Karl Noon blasted a Louis  Barnes cross high over the crossbar  from six yards.

And the game went beyond Motors’  reach after 75 minutes when  Celtic got  their third. Paul Ennis and Phil Marsh  linked up well on the right before the  unmarked Tom Buckley calmly slotted  the ball past the onrushing Jones.
