On-loan Rochdale forward Nyal Bell marked his first appearance for Chester FC with two goals in a 4-0 win over Warrington Town in the Cheshire Senior Cup on Tuesday night.

Youth teamer Matty Waters and winger Jordan Chapell completed the scoring as the Blues booked a semi-final meeting with Tranmere Rovers, who beat Cammell Laird 1907 on the same evening.

Chester manager Steve Burr brought Ryan Higgins, Waters, Kane Richards, Johnny Hunt, Bell and Craig Hobson into his starting line-up to face the Evo-Stik League First Division North visitors.

Richards and Hobson had early chances but it took the Blues until the 35th minute to find a breakthrough as Bell picked up the ball and surged forward before rifling a shot past keeper Karl Willis.

Chester went into the break with a one goal lead and that was how things remained until the hour when Bell was brought down in the area and from the resulting penalty Waters made it 2-0 with his first senior goal for the club.

Chapell came off the bench to add the third goal on 74 minutes when his cross deceived Willis in the Yellows goal and in the final moments of the game Bell completed his brace as he ran onto a John Rooney pass and slotted into the net.

The Blues will now take on National League neighbours Tranmere for a place in the final.
