CHESTER CITY'S poor run of results continued on Saturday, when another error-strewn performance sucked them closer to relegation.

City have gleaned just two victories from their last 13 competitive matches.

The defeat puts further pressure on Chester manager Ian Rush and his coaching staff and when another piece of crazy defending gifted Wycombe their fourth goal early in the second half, the 500 travelling City supporters again showed their frustration, calling for the departure of the management team.

Alarmingly, Chester are now just six points away from the relegation zone and with nine games remaining the coaching staff will be working hard to get the three victories required for safety.

Chester's performance at Wycombe was better than the one turned in at Shrewsbury on their last away day, but unfortunately it was still way short of what is required to beat the drop.

Rush summed up his annoyance after the game when he blasted: "For 10 minutes of the game we were like schoolboys. When you make mistakes like that you will never win games.

"Our mentality is a problem. When we go behind, some of our heads drop and we don't play as a team."

At the start, there was a carnival atmosphere at the Causeway Stadium with the crowd of 8,124 being allowed into the ground free as part of a marketing initiative.

Wycombe looked the sharper side from the start.

However, Chester broke the deadlock against the run of play after 25 minutes when Stonebridge sent an errant back pass into the path of Michael Branch, who strode clear and placed a low effort past Talia.

Wycombe equalised two minutes from the break when Nathan Tyson volleyed into the roof of the net after City had failed to deal with a long throw into the area.

They could have increased their lead in the dying embers of the period, but Bloomfield was unlucky when his close-range effort hit the bar.

At the start of the second period Wycombe came out strongly and City found it difficult to cope.

Stonebridge hit the post with a diving header but then defensive lethargy allowed Bloomfield's cross shot to reach Tyson, who had a simple job to score from close range.

Another defensive mistake in the 57th minute allowed Uhlenbeek to find space and score from the edge of the area.

Johnson added a fourth a minute later, as the visiting defence stood in statuesque fashion.

Branch registered his second goal for City from the penalty spot three minutes from time.

City are next in action on Saturday when they entertain Notts County at the Deva Stadium.
