BLUES boss Mark Wright hit out at some of his 'sulking' senior players after Chester City's 2-0 home win over Barnet on Saturday.

Wright sprang a surprise by naming three promising youngsters - midfielder Paul Rutherford, 19, and 20-year-olds James Vaughan and Chris Holroyd - in his starting line-up against the Bees.

The former England international decided to put his faith in youth as he was unhappy with the attitude of some of City's more experienced pros.

Wright said: 'I thought people had been down for no reason. They were making others down so I thought, well, if you want to sulk, you're no good for us. That's why I decided to put the youngsters in.'

The City boss added: 'I suppose sometimes it takes a brave man to throw youngsters in when the crowd are starting to throw stick, but in training they had worked very hard. The one thing about them is that they will give me everything

they've got and they will listen to what we're saying, whereas some things that (assistant manager) Graham Barrow and I have been saying hasn't been implemented on the field and people have been sulking.

'The kids have got energy and enthusiasm and they wanted to go and make a point.'
