Here's how Blues reporter Jim Green rated the Chester FC performance in Saturday's disappointing 1-0 derby defeat at Wrexham at the Racecourse.

Jon Worsnop 7: Had no chance with Keiron Morris' match-winning strike and but for his saves from Blaine Hudson and Wes York the defeat would have been more convincing.

Ryan Higgins 6: Perhaps at fault for the goal as Morris was allowed to drift infield unmarked, however was the best outlet in the first-half. Got forward well, worked hard down the right and put in a few decent crosses. His performances since arriving in December offer a lot of promise for next season.

Ben Heneghan 7: Will be disappointed with the space and time Morris had to score but one of the few to produce a performance close to the level expected. As in the Eastleigh game, the partnership with Charnock didn't convince.

Kieran Charnock 5: Unable to settle into the game and looked to be in some discomfort when he came off 20 minutes to go, suggesting he'd been hampered with a knock. Louis Moult's energy caused him problems and Wrexham's pressure hurried him into mistakes at times.

Gareth Roberts 6: Came close to an equaliser with a well-hit volley in the second-half, which Andy Coughlin did well to turn past the post. Kept Connor Jennings quiet for most of the game but unable to get forward and support Matty Hughes.

Brad Abbott 5: Never got into the match from the off with Wrexham's midfield trio outmuscling and outworking him and Rooney. Had been a doubt with a thigh injury and his performance, from a player capable of much better, hinted that he wasn't 100% right.

John Rooney 5: Given the nod despite thoughts Kingsley James might return to give extra solidity but little in his favour. A poor pitch and a hardworking and aggressive Wrexham midfield contributed to a tough afternoon with little possession and too many errors.

Craig Mahon 6: As busy as ever, eager to run with the ball and look for openings but often ended up running into opponents or down a blind alley as his team-mates struggled for room.

Sean McConville 5: On the receiving end of a nasty Rob Evans challenge early on and a passenger for large parts of the game. With Abbott and Rooney unable to have an influence, the attacking midfielder had a frustrating time before being withdrawn.

Matty Hughes 6: No lack of effort or endeavour but didn't get much chance to show what he can do and in fairness Steve Tomassen kept him quite well. Should probably have hit the target with his one shooting opportunity in the first-half.

Oliver McBurnie 6: Wrexham's decision to choose Hudson over Luke Waterfall paid off as he kept the on-loan forward quiet. Did force Coughlin into a good reaction save with a powerful header but at times the fact he'd had just a couple of minutes of football back at Bradford City showed.

Substitutes

Matty Brown 6: Replaced Charnock for the final 20 minutes and showed the kind of leadership and strength that's needed in derbies with a crunching tackle on Joe Clarke, although did pick up a nasty gash.

Kingsley James 6: His energy, drive and willingness to do the rough stuff was missed in midfield. Can expect a recall to the starting line-up on Tuesday.

Craig Hobson 5: Limited time to make an impression and the game was lost by the time he'd come on with the Blues looking out on their feet towards the end.
