BLUES picked up an important three points to keep them in the running for one of the possible promotion spots but their lively visitors gave them lots of problems before they finally made their class count on Wednesday.
Winsford took the lead on 22 minutes when a long ball into the box was headed home by Jamie Williams.
Cheadle equalised four minutes later with an almost identical goal when Chris Keane's centre was headed in by an unmarked Matthew Smith.
Ian Givin shot wide straight from the restart and then on 29 minutes the visitors had a remarkable escape when Dave Turner's shot from Neil Harrison's corner was cleared off the line.
Blues soaked up pressure after the break and soon began launching attacks of their own and Mark Quinn's 7th minute cross was headed over by Mark Rampley. Within a couple of minutes Rampley had made up for his miss.
When Melia found himself clear, his shot was saved by Troy Whittle in the Cheadle goal but Rampley followed up to slot in the rebound. Quinn tried to get in on the scoring and his 63rd minute effort was turned round the post.
Two minutes later a neat passing movement lead to him firing over the bar and then having found himself clear in the 69th minute he chipped the ball over Whittle only to see it rebound off the crossbar. The Blues continued to press and ran out comfortable winners.
