AIRBUS UK Broughton moved into the comfort of mid-table after deservedly ending their five-match winless run on Boxing Day.

Saturday’s surprise 2-0 home loss to Caersws had dragged the Wingmakers into the Welsh Premier League danger zone, but Wednesday’s 3-2 victory over Newi Cefn Druids lifts them up to 11th.

Gareth Owen’s men had to come from behind though, as Geraint Lewis took advantage of a poor kick from young keeper Ashley Crossthwaite to fire the Wrexham visitors into a second-minute lead.

But the hosts were level nine minutes before the break when captain and centre-back Mark Allen hooked in after good play from Paul Hallows and Ryan Edwards.

And eight minutes later they were in front as Edwards slotted in his first goal for the club from the spot after keeper Carl Edwards fouled Darren Wright in the box.

Airbus were flying now, and top-scorer Hallows, having twice gone close, made it third time lucky in the 50th minute when he slotted in from an acute angle.

Adam Hunter set up a tense finish when he put through his own net, but the Wingmakers held on.

Airbus attempt to do the double over the Druids on New Year’s Day when they head to Plaskynaston Lane (2.30pm ko).
