THE race to finish as the top Chester side in West Cheshire League Division One is hotting up.

Chester Nomads continue to lead the way but their in-form neighbours piled on the pressure on Saturday.

Christleton won 2-0 at Southport Trinity with superb goals from Steve Flynn and George Rogers.

Upton AA ran out 4-1 winners at Willaston thanks to a top quality Simon Andrews double and John Farrell and Paul Sweeney singles.

And Blacon Youth Club came from behind to win 3-1 at Marshalls. Adam Langton, star man Jack Pickering and Matty Cross did the damage.

Nomads, meanwhile, had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Newton.

Kieran Smith was on target for Nomads, who take on Cammell Laird Reserves in the Cheshire Amateur Cup semi-finals next Wednesday at Runcorn Linnets (7.15pm).

Capenhurst Villa (Lewis Walters) lost 2-1 at home to Runcorn Linnets Reserves in Division Two.

Helsby (Reece Conlon, Carl Jenkins, Alan Bond) notched a vital 3-1 victory at Division Three promotion rivals Mossley Hill Athletic Reserves.

Upton Reserves (Ryan Farrell, Nathan Freeman, Kevin Clutton) edged it 3-2 at home to Hale Reserves, Chester Nomads Reserves (Ali Walker, Mike Carroll) drew 2-2 at home to Capenhurst Reserves (Phil Jones, Tom Hockley), and Neston Nomads (Martin Coan 2, Alex Clare) won 3-2 at home to AFC Bebington Athletic Reserves.
