CHESTER Nomads produced a storming second-half fightback to return to winning ways in West Cheshire League Division One on Saturday.

John Cadwallader’s side looked to be heading for their fifth defeat in seven matches when visiting Maghull doubled their advantage straight after the restart. But Kieron Smith (2) brought Nomads level before Dan Lloyd earned them an unlikely 3-2 win with a super solo strike.

Promotion-pushing Helsby (Ian Cox 2, Steve O’Brien) won 3-2 at Maghull Reserves in Division Two.

There were Division Three draws for Christleton Reserves (Terry Keenan, Mark Nokes, Ashley Male), 3-3 at home to Redgate Rovers, and Upton AA Reserves (Geoff Abraham, Nick Smith), 2-2 away to Merseyside Police. Chester Nomads Reserves (Benito Apollonio, Ryan Trousdale) lost 6-2 at Neston Nomads (Alex Clare 5, Rob Cottrell).

Tarporley Victoria picked up their three points of the Cheshire League Division Two season on Saturday when they won 2-1 at home to Runcorn Town Reserves despite losing Damian Woods to an early red card.

Mike Parker and Adam Williams got the goals for Vics, for whom Al Moore was the man of the match.

Joseph Lunt netted for Malpas as they stopped the rot with a 1-1 draw at home to Congleton Vale.
