CHESTER Nomads stretched their West Cheshire League Division One unbeaten streak to six matches with a 2-0 Bonfire Night home victory over Southport Trinity.

The top-flight new boys broke the deadlock with an Ed Moss 25-yard free kick and rounded off a thoroughly deserved success when Steve Cunningham scored an even better goal from a full 35 yards.

Three goals in the final 15 minutes condemned Blacon Youth Club to a harsh 5-2 home loss to table-toppers Ashville.

The depleted Cairns Crescent outfit twice fought back through Scott Broadbent and Luke Hughes, but there was no way back after Ashville went in front for the third time in the 75th minute.

It was also an afternoon to forget for Blacon’s neighbours and fellow strugglers Christleton and Upton AA.

The Swans suffered a 3-0 home defeat to fourth-placed Marine Reserves while Upton went down 5-1 at home to second-placed Maghull, who ensured Stuart Denham’s strike turned out to be no more than a consolation.

Capenhurst Villa’s Division Two clash at Prescot Cables Reserves due to the absence of a referee.

Capenhurst Reserves did play, winning 2-1 at home to Ellesmere Port Reserves in Division Three thanks to an Ian Armstrong brace.

Upton Reserves lost 2-0 at AFC Bebington Athletic Reserves.
