CAPENHURST Villa reached the West Cheshire Bowl final last Wednesday with a 1-0 victory over Wallasey outfit Ashville Reserves at Poulton Victoria.
Ashville missed the opportunity to take the lead on the half-hour mark when an Antoine shot was handled by a Villa defender, but Darren Murphy's spot kick was straight at keeper Ben Hughes, who saved with his legs.
Murphy was again denied as he hit the upright just before the break, while Villa's best opportunity of the first half came when a Pinnington 25-yard free-kick drifted just over the bar.
The winner came 10 minutes from full-time as Pinnington fired home from close range after the Ashville keeper had saved from Paul Beaumont.
Villa, who are attempting to win the competition for the first time, will now face Heswall Reserves in the final.
However, the club are still firmly anchored to the foot of the Division Two table, having suffered their worst league season in several years.
Villa need to convert games in hand into points and the situation is now becoming critical.
Despite scoring through John Farrell, another three points were dropped on Saturday as leaders Merseyside Police triumphed 3-1.
Saturday's Division One action saw Kristian Hale plunder the game's only goal to secure three points for Vauxhall Reserves against Manweb, while Ellesmere Port were full value for their 1-1 draw at Poulton Victoria thanks to a John Powell strike.
On the minus side, Castrol Social were on the receiving end of a 5-1 mauling at home to leaders Cammell Laird, despite a superbly chipped goal from Neil Clarke.
Result of the day went to Ellesmere Port Reserves, who curtailed the Division Three promotion chances of Chester outfit MBNA, courtesy of a single goal from Phil Coffin.
A sparkling double from Phil Selby was supplemented by a Carl Burns effort as Grange Athletic beat St Werburgh's 3-0, denying the Chester club a third successive league victory.
