LEE Coathup is on his way back to Witton Albion.

Coathup, who was a Witton left-back in the early 90s under Peter O'Brien and Albion's best player at Wembley against Colchester in the FA Trophy final of 1992 which they lost 3-1, has replaced Gary Brabin as assistant manager.

Brabin quit for 'personal reasons' and Coathup, who went on to play mainly for Stalybridge Celtic, is looking forward to teaming up with Albion boss Gary Finley.

Finley said: 'Gary came with me in November and I am disappointed to see him go. We are good mates - he lives only a few doors down from me - but that's football.

'I have known Lee for a number of years and have played against him a few times. He was the assistant manager at Irlam when they won everything two years ago, and I am sure a lot of Witton fans will remember him. I have done well to get him to come to Witton.'

Meanwhile, preparations for the new season - and the first friendly against Wrexham at home on Wednesday, July 13, begin in earnest tomorrow when the squad reports back for pre-season training. Finley said: 'I asked the lads to come back with a certain level of fitness - the days of having a rest through the summer have long gone.' nGate prices for the coming season have been frozen at adults £6.50, concessions £5 and Under 16s free.

Secretary Graham Edgeley said: 'It's good news - we are grateful for the support we have got and we hope that by freezing prices we will be able to attract some of the Wittoners who used to come back into the fold.'

Season tickets are now on sale from the club office or Neil Wilson on 01606 43008. Existing holders will be issued with a renewal letter shortly. Prices for the season are adults £120, concessions £85. nAlbion have been quoted at 20/1 with bookmakers bet365 to take next season's Premier Division title. AFC Telford are favourites at 6/1. Albion are ranked level with Ilkeston Town, Leek Town, North Ferriby Utd, Guiseley, Matlock Town and Prescot Cables.
