AIRBUS UK Broughton need just one more win from their final two games of the campaign to secure seventh position in the Welsh Premier League – and a spot in the end-of-season play-offs for a Europa League place.

Andy Preece’s men hold a four-point lead over eighth-placed Port Talbot Town going into their trips to Aberystwyth Town tomorrow (7.30pm) and Afan Lido on Saturday week.

But Preece believes the Wingmakers would already have sewn up seventh spot had been it not been for a handful of ‘baffling’ refereeing decisions.

In their 1-0 home loss to Carmarthen Town on Saturday, Airbus saw a Nev Thompson effort ruled out for offside when the game was goalless.

And in Monday’s 2-2 home draw with Port Talbot, captain Glenn Rule was sent off with the Wingmakers leading.

Boss Preece, who was ordered from the dugout for taking his protests too far after Rule’s dismissal, said: “That was the difference in those games, the baffling refereeing decisions.

“We haven’t had the rub of the green, but we are in a strong position with a strong goal difference and I am confident we can secure our play-off place.”
