AIRBUS UK Broughton found form just when they needed it most to record a vital 2-1 Welsh Premier League victory at Bala Town on Friday.

A four-game winless run raised fears the Wingmakers would miss out on one of the top-10 places needed to participate in next season’s slimmed-down WPL.

But the win at their major ‘Super 12’ rivals left them needing just one point from their final two games of the season to guarantee a top-10 spot.

It might have been a different story had Bala been able to build on their early lead. But Craig Harrison’s men responded to the early setback by laying siege to the home team’s goal with Leon Bimpson pulling off one stunning save to deny Carl Owen.

Bala held on until the interval, though, and returned after the restart intent on taking the game to their visitors. But Airbus drew level midway through the half when Owen headed in.

Ryan Edwards then escaped down the right and crossed for top-scorer Marc Lloyd Williams to nod in.

Airbus – who took on Prestatyn Town last night in a match that took place after The Chronicle went to press – finish off at home to Neath on Saturday (2.30pm).
