VAUXHALL'S phenomenal run continued into their final UniBond Premier Division fixture, as they secured their tenth victory in 13 unbeaten matches.

The Motormen took the initiative at sun-baked Belle Vue, and Cumiskey had already gone close twice before he played a part in the only goal of the contest on 10 minutes.

He side-footed a short pass to on-loan defender Roberts, who nicked the ball from Emley keeper Wright and set up Macauley, who blasted the ball into the roof of the net from 10 yards.

The non-stop running of Motors skipper Lawton was a strong feature, but he could not help the visitors adding to their tally in that dominant first half.

And after a good run and shot over the top by Griffiths, Emley came back strongly around the hour mark.

Washington could not take advantage at the far post after good work by Peel left Motors keeper Dittmer in no-man's-land. Joice fired over the bar and Kenworthy was denied by a flying Dittmer save, before the Motormen twice went close through headers from Fearns and Roberts.

And in the last few minutes, Kenworthy struck a shot against a Motors upright and Peel failed to convert the rebound, while a tremendous crossfield pass by Griffiths put Fearns away, only for Wright to deny the Vauxhall top scorer with a one-handed save to his left.

VAUXHALL: Dittmer, Spellman, McDermott, Robinson, Roberts, Lynch, Macauley, Lawton, Fearns, Griffiths, Cumiskey. Subs: Parry, Thomas, Tomlinson.
