JIM Vince has risked an FA charge by lashing out at Salford referee Daniel Roberts after Witton Albion slid to their fourth consecutive home defeat.

'I don't care if they want to fine me. He was awful,' said Vince.

Albion lost 3-2 to Burscough, scoring their goals from penalties, but should have had two more spot kicks, he claimed.

Also Witton's own keeper Jon Worsnop should have been sent off!

'Inside two minutes, not only does he award us a penalty when the ball is going into the net - that was just a mistake - but the Burscough defender who brought down Mike Moseley was the last man and did not even get booked.

'Why didn't he? Because he did not know who it was! That is scandalous, especially with linesmen watching play as well.

'So right at the start they should have been down to 10 men.

'At the end I asked him how long was left and he did not know that either.

'Our own keeper pulled down a man to give them a penalty and he should have been dismissed.

'The penalties he did not give us in the first half were because he'd already given us the one - and he admitted as much to our players.

'After the game I couldn't bring myself to even speak to the man. The refereeing was just not up to standard.'

Vince is especially aggrieved now because his team's performances are better than their results and sharper decisions against Burscough might have made the difference between defeat and victory.

Despite only winning once in the league since the turn of the year,

Witton are still on the edge of the play-offs and on Saturday they welcome Ossett Town to Wincham Park.

Ossett are improving, but by then Vince says he will have signed a striker from a UniBond League club.

What's more Steve Connors returns from suspension and midfieldman Mark Jones is fit at last so midfield should be in better shape.

Six other first teamers were unavailable and the squad involved four reserve team players.
