BLACON YC Vets crashed out of the Cayzer Shield on Saturday as Parkgate beat them 8-0 in the third round.

A hat-trick from Pat Sarjeant and goals form Andy Marr, Robert Cregeen, Simon O’Brien, Richard Jones and Joe Harvey put the hosts through comfortably.

City Bar prevailed in extra-time against Newton Reserves, winning 4-2. At full-time it was 2-2 with Danny Mitchell scoring twice for City Bar and Dave Allen and Robbie Arnold replying for Newton. In extra time, Mitchell completed his hat-trick and Tom Mackrell topped off the win.

Sutton Way Villa progressed at the expense of Runcorn Albion, John Spentley and Steve Armitage on target in Villa’s 2-1 win.

In Group A of the League Cup, Kydds Athletic scraped to three points, overcoming Hoole Rangers 3-2. Two from Mike Neary and one from Gary Pollitt were just enough after Hoole scored through Warren Fowles and Lloyd Palmer.

Castrol Social’s Steve Finlay hit the net twice to give his side a 2-1 victory over Highfield Athletic in the Queensferry Sports Premier Division. Simon Quinn claimed Athletic’s goal.

Chester Nomads 2nds shared the spoils with Duddon United as they ended 2-2. United had initially taken a 2-0 first-half lead through Sean Roberts and Rob Edge before being pegged back.

Mike Dutton scored for Newton Bears but Kelsall still emerged 2-1 winners.

Waggon & Horses suffered few problems against Frodsham Utd, winning 3-1 with goals by Gary Ellams (2) and Tommy McGaw. David Pye was on target for United.

Scott Chard’s goal was no more than consolation as Highfield Athletic Reserves folded to a 6-1 home defeat at the hands of Helsby in Olympic Trophies Division One.

Robin Hood came back from 2-1 down at home to Barrow Athletic to win 3-1, goals coming from Paddy Bleakley, Alan Hunt and Lee Lepts.

In the only game to go ahead in DevaWeb Services Division Two, Vicars Cross Doves and Saughall Thursday drew 1-1 with goals from Paul Owens and Matty Russell respectively.

The game was played to conclusion despite two Saughall players, Ryan Taylor-Pogue and Stewart Bevan, both being taken to hospital with suspected broken legs sustained in separate incidents.
