THE quality of both the football and the players in the Nationwide Conference North is undoubtedly better than people had become used to in the old UniBond League Premier Division, yet Vauxhall Motors are struggling to bring the crowds into their Rivacre Park headquarters, despite always wishing to play the right way.
Motors Chairman Alan Bartlam is baffled that their gates are down on previous seasons. "I find it hard to understand and explain," said Bartlam.
* Vauxhall have been drawn against Altrincham in the semi-final of the Uni-Bond Cheshire FA Senior Cup in the New Year.
After winning their previous two ties away from home, 4-2 against holders Woodley Sports and 4-3 after extra-time at Conference North rivals Staly-bridge Celtic, Motors are this time at home.
The other semi-final is between Alsager Town and Crewe Alexandra.
Both ties are to be played on Tuesday, January 18 (7.45pm kick-offs) followed by extra-time and penalties if necessary.
