Vauxhall Motors’ preparations for the new season stepped up a gear this week as four players put pen to paper on new deals.
Left-back Louis Barnes, midfielder Chris Noone, centre-back David Kocsis and defender Steve Wainwright have committed their futures to the Rivacre Park outfit.
It means manager Carl Macauley’s squad is closer to being complete as pre-season gets under way.
Left-back Barnes, who arrived at Rivacre Park in November and quickly established himself as an important player, penned a one-year deal on Sunday.
Noone, in his second spell with the club, burst into the team back in 2005/06 and his imposing presence will be key to Macauley as Vauxhall try to compete with big-spending Conference North rivals.
Hungarian-born Kocsis, a former Manchester United youth player, is back for another year after a solid 11 outings for the club last term.
Wainwright’s signing is a huge lift for the club in particular. He arrived following his release by Tranmere Rovers last summer and made a positive impression in 27 league appearances.
The Motormen began their pre-season schedule at Bootle on Tuesday, drawing 1-1 with Tom Hannigan scoring.
Motors go to Burscough on Saturday (3pm) and host AFC Fylde next Tuesday (7.30pm).
