VAUXHALL manager Owen Brown had ever reason to celebrate his 100th game in charge, as he saw his side secure their best-ever home victory in the Nationwide North and totally belie their league position, with a five-star display.

Leading marksman Peter Cumiskey had twice gone close before he began and finished the move that saw the Motormen move in front on 14 minutes. He fed Lawton on the right and his cross was neatly squared by Rooney to Cumiskey, who turned before looping a shot over the stranded Sollitt.

On 28 minutes, he scored his second, when he was played through by McGivern, before striking a rasping shot home.

On the resumption, Motors wasted two good opportunities before Worksop gave themselves some hope as Robinson rose at the far post to head home.

But this just proved to be a spur for the home side who quickly scored twice in the next six minutes. The first, was a gem from Willis, who won the ball before playing a neat one-two and slotting home right-footed. Moments later McGivern crossed for Rooney to head home his second goal in two games.

But the best goal of the day came as McGivern teased his marker before firing an unstoppable shot into the top corner. Work-sop responded through Wilson and in the dying seconds Dittmer atoned for his error in conceding a penalty, by saving Robinson's spot-kick.

The Motormen are in FA Cup action on Saturday hosting table-topping NWCL side Skelmersdale United in a third qualifying round tie, kick-off 1pm.
