VAUXHALL'S hopes of reaching their first-ever UniBond Cheshire Senior Cup final were dashed by a visiting Altrincham side.

Motors's chances of progressing were effectively ended as early as the 21st minute when home keeper Dittmer was dismissed after fouling Little inside the area.

Motors led through O'Donnell but Tuesday evening's tie turned with the sending-off, as Aspinall levelled from the spot against deputy keeper Wright.

Altrincham led through Little and 11 minutes later, the bounce deceived the substitute keeper allowing Lungsden to grab a third.

Vauxhall's McDermott crashed home a spot-kick despite Coburn diving the right way, as the 10 men gave their all in the closing stages.

But Altrincham held out with the help of some desperate defending to book their place in the final against Crewe.
