AFTER three weeks of cup football, Vauxhalls were looking to regain lost ground against highflying Hucknall on their return to UniBond Premier Division action.

Despite taking an early lead, their defensive frailties again cost them dear.

The Motormen struck their opponents with a stunning second-minute goal, as Cumiskey drove home a perfect Robertson cross from the left beyond Sollitt at the far post for his 18th goal of the season.

But on 19 minutes, the visitors were level, when Bacon converted Ricketts' headed flick-on.

On the half-hour, the Motormen fell behind. Initially, Kinsella made a great save to deny Ricketts, but then the rebound fell for the Huck-nall striker to stab home at the second attempt.

Five minutes after the break, Vauxhall were left with a mountain to climb, when a defensive slice by Robinson fell invitingly to Mayman, who brilliantly headed Huck-nall's third under pressure from the rushing home keeper.

The Motormen proceeded to enjoy the territorial possession for the remainder of the afternoon after that, but the Hucknall defence stood firm to restrict Vauxhall to fleeting glimpses of goal and ultimately, coasted to victory.
