CHESTER CITY chairman Stephen Vaughan has issued an ultimatum to the agent representing transfer target Ricky Ravenhill: "Give us a decision on our offer quickly, or the deal is off."

City have had a five-figure offer for the 25-year-old midfield player accepted by his club Doncaster Rovers, but the player's agent appears to be stalling on completing the deal.

Last night Chester learned that fellow League Two club Boston United had entered the race for the player, although they haven't had a financial offer accepted by Doncaster.

A frustrated Vaughan said last night: "This whole saga is becoming most annoying. Doncaster Rovers have been excellent in the way they've handled the matter, but the player's agent is not helping the situation.

"I have spoken to the agent and told him to give us a decision on our offer quickly, or the deal is off. I have also had a call from the Boston manager Steve Evans about the issue, but I just want a speedy resolution to this saga. If the player comes to us that would be excellent. If he doesn't we must look for another midfield player."

Boston have crossed swords with Chester in transfer dealings previously, when striker Daryl Clare was persuaded to move to York Street in what turned out to be a short-lived transfer.

Chester have announced that seven of their Coca-Cola League Two home matches will be played on Friday evenings next season.

The new dates are:

Friday September 1 v Swindon Town
Friday October 6 v Walsall
Friday October 20 v Hartlepool United
Friday November 17 v Stockport County
Friday March 2 v Torquay United
Friday March 16 v Rochdale
Friday April 6 v Darlington.

All the games will kick off at 7.45pm.

Meanwhile, the former City midfield player Tom Curtis last night joined Notts County. The 33-year-old signed a 12-month contract with the Meadow Lane club.
