CHESTER City chairman Stephen Vaughan has been hit with an FA fine for an incident in the tunnel during last year's ill-tempered match at Shrewsbury Town.

Vaughan was this week fined £1,000 after an FA disciplinary panel found him guilty of violent conduct following the Gay Meadow fixture on November 25.

Both sets of players and coaching staff had to be separated at the final whistle and there were reports of further trouble in the tunnel, which is where Vaughan was alleged to have become involved.

He denied the charge of violent conduct but the FA upheld it and fined him, severely censured him and warned him about his future conduct.
