CHESTER CITY chairman Stephen Vaughan is seeking a meeting with the City Council and AWG Developments with a view to reviewing the lease to the club's Deva Stadium ground.

AWG (formerly Morrisons Construction Ltd) built the stadium in 1992, and still possess a golden share, while the Council are landlords.

Vaughan said last night: "There are a number of initiatives that we would like to carry out at the stadium, but we are restricted because of the terms of the lease.

"The drainage system on the far side of the ground isn't working satisfactorily, and that was a contributory factor last weekend when our match against Grimsby was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch. At the moment the potential of the whole facility isn't being maximised."

Meanwhile, Chester are awaiting confirmation from the Football League that last weekend's cancelled match against Grimsby Town has been re-scheduled for Tuesday, September 6.

City's reserve team are in action today, when they face Blackpool in a Pontin's League fixture at the Deva Stadium.

Members of the first team squad are expected to be included, while trialist striker Rodney Jack will be given a run-out.
