UPTON AA bounced back from an early-season loss when they drew their Chester derby at Christleton on Wednesday.

The Division One clash finished 1-1 and kept Upton clear of Christleton in the early running.

Upton lost on Saturday, 3-0 at home to Cammell Laird Reserves, while Christleton suffered a similar fate last Friday, falling 2-1 to Newton.

Blacon YC are still looking for their first win of the season after going down 3-0 at Castrol Social on Wednesday.

Comfortably mid-table last season after a difficult start, they have conceded 10 goals in the opening three games having also lost 6-0 at Aintree Villa on Saturday.

Capenhurst Villa secured a midweek win in Division Two over a stuttering Chester Nomads.

Villa won 2-1 at home to make it two victories in a row, after they beat Bronze Social 1-0 on Saturday. That day, Nomads fell 2-0 at the hands of Poulton Vics Reserves.

Helsby took four points from the week’s two games, beating Grange Athletic 3-1 on Tuesday after holding relegated Ashville to a 2-2 draw on Saturday.

In Division Three, St Werburgh’s were the latest victims of rampant Runcorn Town Reserves on Tuesday, losing 2-1 away from home.

Christleton Reserves also lost, Mersey Royal beating their visitors 2-0. On Saturday, the Swans drew at RRR Jacobs 1-1.

Blacon YC Reserves had a bad week, losing 3-0 at Upton AA Reserves on Tuesday after receiving a 7-1 battering at home by Marshalls on Saturday.
