KEITH Curle is hoping to take some positives into tomorrow's match at Rushden & Diamonds, after the frustration of last week-end's postponement.

The Blues boss was hoping to build on an unbeaten start to the season at home to the Mariners but is now focused on taking advantage of his side's lack of action.

He said: 'It was disappointing to have the game called off, because we were ready for Grimsby.

'It was an opportunity to build on two good results against Peterborough and Lincoln, but we must take the positives from a negative.

'We will probably have Greg Blundell and Craig Dove fit for when the fixture is replayed and we can concentrate on one or two things on the training ground.'

Dove is just about fit but is not going to be rushed back into action. However, he may be able to help Curle get the lowdown on his former team-mates before tomorrow's clash.

Last weekend's postponement will also have given Curle time to make enquiries about players, as he attempts to fine-tune his squad ahead of the transfer deadline on August 31.

He said: 'There are lots of sides with squads of 22, 23 and 24 players, so it enables us to have a look around and maybe offer one or two fringe players the opportunity to play competitive football.'

Looking ahead to the game at Nene Park, Curle believes last season's double over the Diamonds will have no effect on the outcome of this season's games due to the changes that took place at the

Saunders Honda Stadium during the summer. He believes Barry Hunter's men will provide a stern test for his new-look side as they have remained unbeaten during the first few weeks of the campaign.

He said: 'They've had a similar start to ourselves, with a good haul of four points from two games.

'They had a fine win at Mansfield, a draw at home and their game at Macclesfield called off, so they are going to be eager to play and get their first home win under their belt.'

Curle believes Rushden have a number of players who could pose a threat and singled out 21-year-old midfielder David Bell as one who has impressed him so far.

'Bell is a dangerman,' he said. 'He's a clever player but the whole side is a neat and tidy team - it's a good football club.

'They've had some up and down seasons recently, but they have appointed Barry Hunter, an ex-player, to the club and that is a good move.'

With a tough Carling Cup clash coming on Tuesday against Wolves, one of his former clubs, Curle is keen to point out the league is the priority.

He is looking to take one game at a time and hopes that when the final whistle blows at Nene Park tomorrow, the Blues' unbeaten start to the season will still be intact.
