MANAGER Terry Murphy hailed Middlewich Town's trio of youngsters after the club's opening friendly, a 2-2 draw in Prestatyn on Saturday.
Teenagers Rob Hopley, Nathan Morris and John Hurst all made the starting line-up.
'I am made up with those three,' said Murphy. 'They have given me confidence in them.
'That does not mean to say we don't need some more experience.
'I have to gauge whether we are good enough to beat Barnton - they are the yardstick.
'I am hoping to make a couple of signings this week - I am waiting on some phone calls.
'We played well, created a lot of chances and only did not win because we gave away two daft goals.'
Middlewich were without Ryan Broadhead, who played for Witton Albion against Northwich Vics, though he may return to Seddon Street in time for Saturday's friendly against Alsager Town.
Middlewich are due at Castrol tonight (Wednesday).
On Saturday, August 9 they have Lostock Gralam at home in the Mid Cheshire Senior Cup qualifier - that is followed four days later by the visit of a Manchester City XI.
