CITY's board of directors have declined an invitation to go on a pre-season trip to Northern Cyprus.

The offer was made by a multi-national businessman looking to promote football in the self-proclaimed Turkish 'republic', which is not recognised by either Fifa or Uefa.

The all-expenses paid trip was given serious consideration by Chester's board but, with the club's pre-season plans already in place, it was decided that it would be better to remain in the UK.

Blues managing director Bob Gray said: 'The board were flattered by the invitation, but after making a 360 degree assessment, we have decided not to take part.'
