Richard Tracey and Paul Palmer were the home scorers but Albion reduced the arrears in the 21st minute when Chris Gahgan converted a Mike Moseley cross.
When Steve Heath was sent off on 36 minutes for elbowing Griff Jones, Albion ought to have been able to wrestle at least a point from the game.
But they had still not found their rhythm and Frickley defended well, Gaghan and Alex Brown going closest to levelling.
