THERE were no surprises when top met bottom in the Premier Division on Saturday.

Leaders Tarporley Vics were too strong for pointless Barrow Athletic, winning 8-0 with four goals from Henry Buckley, a Ben Briscoe hat-trick and a Simon Gresty strike.

Second-placed Hoole Rangers (James Toop, Lennox Beddows) slipped up when they lost at home by the odd goal in seven to third club Brewery Arms, who had Chris Gilmartin, Mike Edwards and Colin Donnolly on target.

Kevin Rankin, Lee Pedder and Mike Gilmore were the Frodsham United scorers in a 3-1 win at Cestrian Alex (Paul Finch), while Ian Riddler (2) and James Andrews clinched a 3-0 win for Newton Athletic Youth at home to Waggon & Horses OB.

A Justin Rowlands brace and a Danny Andrews goal gave Upton Borough a 3-1 win at Chester Nomads Seconds, who replied through Andrew Mitchell.

The top two in Division One shared 10 goals and featured two hat-tricks. Neil Hughes led the scoring for Christleton A with Nick Ash-ford and Craig Rowlands also on target, while Graham Tomlinson was the main marksman for Team Highfield.

Frodsham United Reserves kept in touch with a 3-1 home win against Tarvin Athletic (John Wyatt), thanks to Nick Pantazides and Sean Ashton.

Billy Nelson's hat-trick earned Duddon United a 3-0 win against Nomads Thirds and goals from Dave Burton (pen), Carl Mackay (2) and Martin Hill gave Crossway a 4-1 victory at MBNA Reserves (Clive Barlow).

Barrow Athletic Seconds remain bottom following a 5-0 defeat at Kelsall, where Andy Johnson, Rick Bowser, Paul Tucker (2) and Connor McMullan netted for the hosts.
