Tarporley Vics 7 Malpas 1
VICS continued their impressive start to the Division Two campaign with a thumping victory over Malpas on Wednesday.
The game was hard fought and Malpas battled well, but Tarporley’s class showed when going forward.
Buckley grabbed himself a hat-trick, with last year’s top scorer Alex Moore bagging two. Dan Haralambaus and Ed Pattinson were also on the scoresheet.
Vics had drawn 1-1 at an improving Grappenhall side on Saturday, Moore securing a deserved point with a bullet header from Ally Taylor’s fine centre.
Malpas 3 Monk 2
MALPAS notched up their first win of the Division two season on Saturday.
They broke the deadlock on seven minutes thanks to a curling right-footed effort from Rob Kennerley which found the roof of the net.
Monk hit back on 25 minutes when their striker shrugged off suspicions of offside to fire past the Malpas goalkeeper.
The visitors were on level terms for just three minutes when the returning Roy Cardus broke through the Monk defence only to be upended by the visitors’ goalkeeper.
Simon Bradley calmly slotted home the resultant penalty.
Cardus was then brought down again in the penalty area before half-time and Bradley kept his cool once again to slide home his spot-kick.
Monk pushed forward in an attempt to get back into the game and were rewarded when Rob McWilliams directed a low cross into his own net, but Malpas held on for the three points.
