Tarporley Victoria 3 Crewe FC 0

VICS ended 2008 by clocking up a comfortable home win.

Crewe’s side was weakened by illness and absentees, and Vics took full advantage.

As the rained poured and the wind whipped around the pitch, the hosts began to get on top. They were 2-0 up inside half-an-hour and added a third in the second half to wrap up a convincing success.

Crewe keeper Steve Harding had to make three outstanding saves to keep the scoreline reasonably respectable.

Tarporley travel to Whitchurch tomorrow.

Malpas 0 Whitchurch Alport 0

MALPAS and Alport totally cancelled each other out in Saturday’s Division Two derby.

Malpas player/manager Robbie McWilliams was disappointed his side did not secure the maximum points.

He said: “We missed three or four chances to take the lead. We deserved three points.

“Richard Desmond in midfield played well and Danny Lloyd came in and did a good job, but we should have taken our chances.”

Malpas host Monk tomorrow.
