Crewe Ladies 1 Loughborough Students LFC 0

CREWE produced their best display of the season to beat their college-based opposition thanks to a Tracy Sloane rocket.

As expected, coming from the UK's top sports university, the visitors showed high fitness levels and a commitment to get the ball down and play good football.

But Crewe matched that desire and forwards Sloane and Katie Connell proved a handful. Winger Kirsty Percival's dazzling trickery set up Sloane, but a cruel bobble saw her balloon over from close range.

The winner came on the hour-mark, when a repeat of the Percival and Sloane combination paid off, and the Mancunian made up for her earlier miss with a rocket into the top corner.

A superb save from Kelly Roberts in the Crewe goal in the dying minutes ensured that the home team held on for a deserved victory.
