CHRISTLETON were emphatic winners of the Chester FA Challenge Cup last Friday when they hit Hoole Rangers for six without reply, with doubles from Tom Rowland and Mike Gerrard, and Scott Morgan and Ilya Haycock completed the scoresheet.

The rest of the weekend programme was dedicated to the Chris Courtenay Williams-sponsored Tom Gerraghty Memorial Trophy - and it proved another disappointing day for Rangers who were beaten 2-1 in the second round by Christleton A, Lloyd Palmer their scorer.

Christleton lost 2-0 to Newton Athletic youth on Monday in the third round, James Andrews and John Briscoe the scorers for Newton.

In round three, Gary Ellams' hat-trick helped Team Highfield to a 5-2 win at Barrow Athletic (Terry Davies 2, Ged Swan), with Jason Perry, Lee Bennion and Adam Langton also on the mark.

Leon Whitley, Peter O'Toole and Chris Donnolly put Brewery Arms through with a 3-1 scoreline against Duddon United, whose reply came from Richard Moss.

Paul Bennion bagged a hat-trick as Waggon & Horses OB won 4-1 at Frod-sham United (Kevin Rankin). Arran Stokoe scored the other goal.

In the final league game of the season on Monday, Frodsham United and Waggon & Horses OB drew 0-0 in the Premier Division.

Kelsall collected the Cayzer Shield on Wednesday when they beat Team High-field 5-4 on penalties. It was 1-1 after normal time and extra time.
