WITTON boss Jim Vince says his side's first training session back is enough to convince him that Albion are in for a good year.

Players reported back for pre-season training on Saturday, with a number of new faces on hand to show what they could do.

Vince said: 'The turnout was very good and what pleased me most was they were looking in very good shape.

'I was very pleased with one or two, and there will be a few signings in the next few weeks but I can't say any more as we are still talking to them about joining us.'

Vince was hoping to have a look last night at former Albion centre-back Wes Simpson, who quit football two years ago because of work commitments, but is raring to go again.

Vince said: 'He's a friend of (assistant) Benny Phillips and has decided he really wants to give it a go.

'At 29, he's got a lot of years left in him but it's not just about Wes Simpson, there's a lot of quality about and with the players that will be signing and have already signed we should have a good year - it's one training session, but it was a very good one.'

Albion have released details of their summer soccer schools schedule. The week-long courses are running from Mondays, July 17, July 24 and July 31 and are open to children aged six and over. Each week promises to be actionpacked and places are available at £60 per person.

Forms are available from the club office or by calling Jim Vince on 07748 367775.
