SIMON Davies has taken over as head of youth at Chester City.

The former Manchester United and Luton midfielder replaces Jim Hackett, who left the club last week.

Chester's youth team have notched up a string of excellent results under Hackett this season, but the Londoner has decided it is time to search for a new challenge.

After celebrating promotion back to the Football League two years ago, the Blues won their licence back and appointed Hackett - a UEFA A coaching licence-holder - to head the new operation. This season he led the team to an incredible FA Youth Cup victory over Spurs.

Davies got off to a winning start on Saturday as Chester's youth team notched up a 2-0 home win over Shrewsbury. They travel to Grimsby tomorrow.
