THATCHED Tavern stole a dramatic victory to ensure a new name will appear on the Mid Cheshire Sunday League Cup.

They won a penalty shoot-out against holders - and winners four times in the past five seasons - Oaklands, for whom Mike Houghton scored after 25 minutes.

With 30 seconds remaining Ian Clarke equalised and took the tie into extra-time where they remained locked at 1-1. Thatch went on to win 4-2 on spot kicks.

There was better news for Oaklands in the Premier Division where St Joseph's dropped their first point. They were held to a draw by Rudheath.
