BARNTON and Middlewich Town will repeat last year's Mid Cheshire FA Cup Final after both won through their semis as expected on Saturday.

Man of the match Wez Huizer's defence splitting pass teed up Tom Swann for a high quality finish to give Barnton a 1-0 win over Witton Albion Reserves just as a poor tie seemed to be heading for extra-time.

Witton's youngsters had been the better side in the first half, but Barnton eventually got on top.

Manager Mark Came said: 'I was disappointed with our performance and just glad to get through.'

Barnton are holding a sportsman's evening on Thursday, March 29 at The Oaklands Hotel, Gorstage with ex-Everton striker and manager Joe Royle the guests speaker. Tickets are £30 and further details are available from Peter Dickens on 0781 368 5835.

Middlewich beat their own Reserves 3-0 in another low-key match.

The second string threatened only once, in the opening minutes, but never again. Once goals from Joey Royle and Andy Whitney had put the senior side in charge the entertainment value nosedived.

Gary Bryning, returning from six weeks injury lay-off, scored the third goal in the second half.

Lostock Gralam 4, Billinge 2

LOSTOCK turned on the style in the Mid Cheshire League Division Two bottom of the table clash.

Mike Rafferty headed the Grey Lambs into an early lead, which was soon cancelled out but then restored by Peter Gibbon's 30-yard sizzler.

Chris Crawford and Rob Newman widened the gap and encouraged Lostock to drop the pace, upon which Billinge scored again.
