THE return of Runcorn skipper Dominic Morley - three minutes from time - provided the only highlight of a dismal day.

This was the 11th attempt to get a victory at Halton Stadium and one which never looked like being successful, even against a poor Lancaster outfit.

Morley, who wasn't expected to play again this season after an industrial accident, returned to the biggest cheer of the afternoon.

Lancaster wrapped up the game when keeper Tony McMillan shouted but failed to collect a corner kick from the right. And Farrell Kilbane, who helped Lancaster's defence dominate an ineffective Linnets' front line, headed in.

RUNCORN FC HALTON: McMillan, Carragher, Ness (Garrity 69), Nolan, Ellis (Morley 87), Spearritt, Hogan, McGinn, Lightfoot (Ren-dell 46), Courtney, Leadbetter.
