THERE IS almost an in-built positive reaction to adversity that filters through every part of Finch Farm.

Witness David Moyes’ senior squad’s impressive response to their nadir against Wigan in March, and now Under-18s coach Kevin Sheedy has coaxed a similarly defiant comeback from his young team after their own quarter final heartbreak.

His youngsters were disheartened by their defeat by Norwich at Goodison in the FA Youth Cup earlier this month, but bounced back in tremendous fashion to beat Crystal Palace and Manchester United – just like their inspirational coach, who recovered from prostrate cancer earlier this year. They’re doing him proud.
