WESTERN Rangers strolled into the second round of the Bill Gresty Memorial Trophy on Sunday after winning 8-1 at Grosvenor Celtic.

A hat-trick from Ed Bloomer and two from Matty Davies meant the writing was on the wall for Grosvenor. Richard Deponio added a sixth and Grosvenor contributed to their own demise with two own goals.

Dee Miller were similarly dominant in the third round of the Dale Recycling Solutions League Cup, beating hosts Blacon Sports and Social Club 7-2. Scott Chard and Gary Ellams got Blacon’s goals but it was not good enough as Simon Andrews fired four, Danny Andrews bagged two and Luke Jackson made it seven.

League action took place in Chester Chronicle Section B where Bank of America drew 5-5 with Upton YC.

A Brian Worrall treble and goals from Ben Carragher and Matty Owen should have been enough for a home win. But Upton hit back with Simon Hunker (2), Mike Gerrard (2) and Damien Bryan on target.
