PREMIER Division champions Rain-hill Town sent Halton Borough heading for the Guardian Cup exit door.

Halton found themselves two down in the first 10 minutes due to poor clearances from corner kicks resulting in goals. Division One's Boro picked themselves up and began to play the better football but without an end product.

Town struck twice more - either side of half-time. Halton continued to push forward but were further punished with 10 minutes remaining.

The 5-0 defeat did not reflect the effort put in by the Halton players but they had allowed several chances to go begging. Rainhill scorers were Pearson (2), Morris, Dooling and Worsley.

Moore United booked a quarter-final
