THE Motormen outclassed their Welsh Premier League opponents last night to maintain their fine start to pre-season, writes Paul Wheelock.

Five days after they shocked League One outfit Tranmere Rovers, Vauxhall turned in a first-half super show that had assistant boss Carl Spellman purring.

After goalkeeper Tim Dittmer gifted Airbus a second-minute opener, Motors smashed four goals in 16 minutes to put the game beyond doubt.

Spellman, who took charge of the team in the absence of boss Carl Macauley, said: 'It was a bad start for us but the lads showed great spirit to get four quick goals.

'We made a lot of changes in the second half and they got one back, but overall it was a very pleasing performance.'

Steve McNulty, Lee Furlong and Karl O'Donnell took their goals with aplomb, but it was former Chester City man Stuart Whittaker's strike that will live in the memory.

Cutting in from the right wing, he blasted a left-footed drive that smashed into the top corner of the net.

Spellman said: 'Whitty's strike was brilliant, from fully 25-yards - he likes to do that! He's got experience, he can kid players, and cuts inside when the full-back thinks he's going outside.

'He should prove to be a quality signing for us.'

Vauxhall cross the border again on Saturday when they make the trip to Colwyn Bay. They head back down the A55 on Tuesday to tackle Bangor City.
